Hi, I'm Joanne Chan, founder of Folkwoven.

During the day, I'm a psychologist and assistant professor at Oregon Health & Science University. My days are spent in the abstract — the intellectual, the emotional, the deeply human weight of therapeutic work. It's meaningful, and it's heavy.

Making is how I come back to myself.

When my hands are working — cutting leather, stitching, shaping something real — I'm present in a way that nothing else quite offers. Folkwoven is where that practice becomes something you can carry with you.

Each piece is handcrafted in Portland, one at a time — leather bags, journal covers, quilted coats and vests (coming soon!) — using the highest quality materials. Uncompromising, and made to be lived in daily.

My hands. Your story.

XO Joanne
